A la fin de la guerre de Cent ans, les bandes anglaises s'emparèrent d'Anglars d'où elles rançonnaient le pays. L'église fut brûlée à cette époque et le dernier étage du clocher détruit. Elle fut reconstruite au 16e siècle et le haut du clocher fut couvert par une charpente formée par des chevrons portant ferme. Le clocher roman est une masse imposante, construite en pierre de taille, avec contreforts aux angles et un massif de renfort sur le milieu des trois faces dégagées. Au 18e siècle, une tribune fut construite, comportant une voûte en berceau retombant sur deux murs d'applique. L'escalier est remplacé par une galerie à plan incliné ménagée dans l'épaisseur des murs.Classement monument historique :
